No Place for Hate

As a leader of people and industry, my ability to listen is probably one of the most important skills I possess. I constantly challenge myself to exercise and develop this skill. In these challenging times, leaders that listen is even more important.

We can debate politics all day long and I will always appreciate the wide variety of opinions and perspectives, even if we do not agree or align on the topics. I will always do my best to listen, really listen to alternate viewpoints and I welcome those conversations. Listening = growth for me.

The one thing I will not debate with you, however, is decency.

I freely acknowledge the dumpster fire of our current political machine and welcome conversations about how to fix the system. But, as a father of 5 beautiful, thoughtful, joyful girls (and our departed Jasper), I cannot abide the opinion or the notion that it is acceptable for our country to be led by such a hateful, vicious, and deplorable human. Decency, decorum, and compassion are paramount qualities of leadership, now more than ever.

Former Montana Republican Governor, Marc Racicot put it perfectly in his announcement of support for Biden, “But at the end, the content of a man’s character or a woman’s character to serve in that capacity is more important than any other issue that I have to consider as a matter of conscience”.

As a public servant, to lead without compassion for those you serve is to fail to fulfill the basic requirements of your post. Trump has proven over and over again he fails to possess even a shred of decency in his character. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to fix the shit-show in D.C., but hate is not the cure.

I will cast my vote for #BidenHarris

I will cast my vote for returning compassion and decency to the highest office in this wonderful country.

I will cast my vote for the love of the strong women each of my daughters will most certainly become.

I will cast my vote for the love of ALL my fellow humans.

I will cast my vote AGAINST HATE.

If you would like to engage in a civil, respectful conversation about the challenges and solutions of our political system, I remain open and ready to listen. However, if you take offense to my position against hate, please promptly remove yourself from my life, because hate has no place in my life or the lives of my girls.
